Gotland
Gotland is an island paradise with its characteristic unspoiled beauty and a long coastline with sandy beaches and sculptural rocks in the sea. Historically significant, its main town Visby is a Viking-era wonder and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This unique island off the southeastern coast of Sweden has its all-natural scenery, remarkable history, and local flavor. Wander the cobbled streets of Visby - the main town on the island's east coast - and you're transported to medieval times. Visby's historic townscape features many influential buildings and structures dating back to the 13th century.
Historical architecture aside, there's much to explore beyond the city's borders. Known as a foodie hotspot, Gotland is benefiting from the excellent local produce available on the island - especially fresh-caught seafood. It's well worth a visit at any time of year, each season with its charm - but the island comes alive, especially in summer when temperatures hover around the 20°C mark and water is at the most bathing-friendly level.
