    Öland

Öland is an island located in the Baltic Sea off the southeastern coast of Sweden. Öland is Sweden's smallest landscape. Between Öland and the mainland, there is a strait about 6 km wide, Kalmarsund. The land connection is via the Öland Bridge, which runs between Färjestaden on Öland and Kalmar on the mainland.

Öland Island has stunning scenery, a perfect climate, and a charming heritage that attracts anyone who visits this beautiful island. Furthermore, the fascinating history of the island of Öland is something every visitor wants to hear. This large island was home to many Swedish rulers in ancient times, but for now, you'll only find museums and heritage sites on the island. During your visit, we recommend trying traditional seafood such as smoked fish and lufsa.

Unlike the mainland, the bedrock on Öland consists of limestone, which means the vegetation, in particular, is different from that found in the rest of Sweden. Öland mostly has flat and open landscapes where dry heather, also known as Alvar, is found over large areas.
