Gravity Co.
The name "Gravity Co., Ltd." (in Korean) refers to a South Korean video game company best known for creating the MMORPG Ragnarok Online. The company, which began as a modest operation in Shinsa-dong, Kangnam-ku, Seoul, South Korea, has since grown to include a number of subsidiary branches and an international presence. Gravity Corporation, the first Korean video gaming firm, made its initial public offering (IPO) on February 8, 2005, and traded $108 million USD on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol GRVY.
The company's past was rocky, with CEO Hakyu Kim leaving and company president Jung Ryool Kim taking over as CEO, but things have settled down and the business has expanded across all of north and south-east Asia through supervised partnerships with local corporate entities. Ragnarok Online, the main product of Gravity Corporation, is a success in Asia; nevertheless, the Western European and American markets for the program are not as developed.
