Kakao
Kakao is a South Korean web firm founded in 2010. Daum Communications and the previous Kakao Inc. merged to form the new company. The business became known as Daum Kakao in 2014. In 2015, Kakao underwent yet another rebranding, this time going back to its original name.
The American social networking business Path, which had found popularity in Indonesia, was acquired by the firm in May of 2015. Kakao paid $1.5 billion in January 2016 to purchase a 76.4% share in the major South Korean entertainment company LOEN Entertainment.
Kakao M is its new name after a rebranding. KakaoTalk, a free mobile instant messaging program for cellphones featuring text and call functionality, has contributed to the company's rise to fame. There were 220 million downloads and 47 million monthly users by May 2017. For the top spot in the Japanese web comic and web book market, the company competes with Naver Corporation as of March 2022.
