Izumi
Despite its position in the renowned Gulshan neighborhood, Izumi, which means'spring' in Japanese, is a quiet oasis among the buzzing, bustling Dhaka. Guests can dine in the sophisticated and modern restaurant, which is located in a beautiful courtyard. One of the few fine-dining restaurants in Dhaka, and the only Japanese restaurant with a Japanese chef on staff. They offer a nice garden and patio for al fresco dining, as well as plenty of seating inside in a modern environment. They fly in tuna from Tokyo's Tsukiji Market at least once a week, import the majority of their raw materials, and work primarily with very high-end and quality-conscious local suppliers.
Izumi is authentically Japanese, with bonsai trees, a rock garden, and a waterfall, as well as artwork by local artist Ashraful Hasan on the exterior walls. Inside, the restaurant is wide and softly lighted, and diners may order traditional Japanese fare like sushi, sashimi, and tempura, as well as dishes like yaki spit-roasted scallops and grilled raw eel with sweet eel sauce that are a touch out of the ordinary. Try the teppanyaki steak wagyu, which comes with 200 grams of Australian wagyu beef, vegetables, rice, and dipping sauce.
