Oh! Calcutta

Oh! Calcutta is a basic yet exquisite restaurant in Dhaka's Banani area, strategically placed on one of the city's main thoroughfares. The restaurant is part of an award-winning fine dining chain with locations in Calcutta, Mumbai, and Delhi, India. Although the restaurant serves British and continental food, it specializes on Calcutta cuisine, particularly Bengali and Nawabi delicacies.

Oh! Calcutta recreates classic cuisine using recipes that have been passed down through the generations. Popular dishes include chingri malai curry, which features prawns served in a creamy coconut sauce, and bhapa ilish, which features local fish marinated in mustard and chillies and steamed in a banana leaf. Finish your dinner with rasgulla, a delicious syrup-coated cottage cheese and semolina dumpling dessert. Their liquor license allows them to sell a variety of domestic and international bottles. Wines from New Zealand, Australia, California, Argentina, and France have been hand-picked. Everyone should be able to find something they enjoy. Glass pours range in price from $9.00 to $39.00 per bottle.

This list is rounded off with their Craft Beer selection, which includes New Zealand and Indian beers. They have a unique whiskey selection as well as a premium gin emporium with 24 gins from around the world. Oh Calcutta is the first and only Indian restaurant to win the prestigious Mobius media award in New Zealand.
