KYE
Kathleen Hanhee Kye's brand debuted at Seoul Fashion Week in 2011, two years after graduating with an MA in Fashion (Menswear) from London's Central Saint Martins. It was followed by a runway presentation during the 2014 New York Fashion Week, and the Korean-American and her brand have been at the top of their game in the fashion industry ever since.
KYE clothes have been worn by Kourtney Kardashian and Rihanna, among other Western celebrities, and are known for their vibrant, fresh, and unisex designs. In Korea, the brand has helped models such as Bae Yoon-young and Jung Hoyeon establish their careers.
Kye, who was a nominee for the LVMH Prize in 2014, counts as friends K-pop idols G-Dragon and CL, who are frequently seen in her designs. She's also worked with Gentle Monster, Adidas, and the Japanese cosmetics company Shu Uemura. The Untamable collection by KYE for Spring/Summer 2020 is all about brilliant colors, over-the-top but sophisticated silhouettes, and a mix of details and textures. It also represents the designer's desire to break free from societal standards.
