Magnolia tea is a natural sleep aid made from the dried bark, buds, and stems of the magnolia plant. Two sedative compounds found in the plant include honokiol and magnolol.


Although there isn't much evidence in people, some older animal studies have found that both honokiol and magnolol can help with sleep and insomnia. Drinking magnolia tea for three weeks reduced depression and sleep quality in women who had just given birth, according to one research. Another, older study of 89 women found that taking magnesium and 60 mg magnolia extract tablet helped them sleep better during menopause.
