Maligne Lake
Located in Alberta, Canada's Jasper National Park, Maligne Lake is a lake. The lake is well-known for its turquoise water, the surrounding peaks, the three glaciers that can be seen from the lake, and Spirit Island, an islet that is regularly and widely known for being photographed. The lake is reachable by car, including shuttle buses from Jasper, and is situated 44 kilometers (27 miles) south of the town of Jasper.
Maligne Lake is reached after a 45-minute drive from the picturesque town of Jasper along a valley. Although the lake's shoreline is rather picturesque, taking a boat tour that stops at Spirit Island is the best way to view it. One of the most popular photo locations in Jasper National Park is here.
The 22-kilometer-long lake's northern end is where the boat tours start, but its southern end is where the scenery is at its most beautiful. The lake's waters turn turquoise as the mountains in the south encircle it. 15 kilometers separate the north end of the lake from Spirit Island.
