Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lakes
In the Canadian province of Alberta's Kananaskis Country, a natural lake named Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lake was transformed into a reservoir. Peter Lougheed Provincial Park is home to Upper Kananaskis Lake and Lower Kananaskis Lake. The lake is one of many man-made and natural lakes in the Kananaskis and Bow Valleys that are utilized for hydroelectric power generation, flood control, and water storage for Bow River water users including the city of Calgary.
As Calgary's outdoor playground, the Kananaskis region boasts mountains and lakes that offer countless leisure options. At the valley's bottom, the Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lakes are surrounded by a wide variety of campgrounds.
Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lake are the bigger of the two lakes. Fishing, canoeing, and kayaking are all common activities here. Diverse trout species, such as rainbow, brown, bull, and, in the deep water, lake trout, are among the fish that can be caught. Swimming in the lake is uncommon because of how frigid the water is. The majority of the campgrounds and both lakes are connected by a bicycle trail, making transportation simple.
