Malvern College Egypt
The first British international school to collaborate with a top British independent school is Malvern College Egypt (MCE), located in Cairo, Egypt. Malvern College Egypt was founded in September 2016 and presently offers Pre-Nursery through Sixth Form. It provides internationally recognized pre-university qualifications such as the A-Levels and the IB Diploma Programme, in addition to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
Although Malvern College Egypt is a relatively new institution, it is lucky to benefit from the more than 150 years of educational experience that its mother school, Malvern College UK, has to offer. They offer frequent visits to the school to offer educational insight and expertise, as well as inspections based on a set of rigorous academic standards that MCE must follow.
Except for certain Arabic language classes, all subjects and MCE are taught in English. Students begin learning French as a second language in Year 1. MCE adheres to the English National Curriculum from Pre-Nursery through Upper Sixth Form. Students in the Sixth Form have the option to complete their last two years at the College using the IBDP curriculum.
During their time in secondary school, students will take the IGCSE, AS/A level, or IBDP exams. In their twelfth year at MCE, Egyptian students will also take the MOE exams. The highly qualified academic staff at MCE supports each student's scholarly approach and cultivates the habits and abilities of both independent and collaborative learners, preparing them for success not only in school but also in college and their future careers.
At Malvern College Egypt, education takes place outside of the classroom as well. As part of the curriculum, a vast array of engaging educational travel opportunities are offered. Numerous local locations are visited, in addition to the opportunity for residential trips—which include a summer camp at MCUK—to foster independence. The students gain a deeper understanding of the world and refine their ideas about how they will contribute to its future through these experiences.
Malvern College Egypt also prioritizes the academic challenges, extra engagement, and physical health needs of its students. The list of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) is extensive and includes a variety of activities, such as taking an art class, learning a new language, practicing an instrument, or choosing to engage in physical activities like swimming, football, body balancing, or judo.
A 450-seat theater, a food technology room, art and design technology workshops, a basketball court, a 5-a-side FIFA 2 standard all-weather pitch, a science lab, a media center, music studios, and music practice rooms are among the amenities offered by Malvern College Egypt. There's also a central piazza, a coffee shop, and a medical center.
