Modern English School Cairo
Just 28 pupils were enrolled when Modern English School Cairo first opened its doors in October 1990. Under the direction of Mr. Nabeel Dajani and Mrs. Sawsan Dajani, a group of educators had a visionary idea for the school. It quickly gained recognition and status in the community.
Modern English School Cairo is a learning community that serves the needs of Egyptian and foreign families in Cairo by offering top-notch education to kids from Foundation Stage 1 to university entrance. The British Curriculum for Primary is the foundation of the broad education program.
The school gives secondary students the option to pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, the American Curriculum, or the British Curriculum. Throughout the school, Arabic and Religious Studies are taught.
At Modern English School Cairo, 170 teachers with teaching credentials accepted in the US and/or UK are hired from all over the world. While some are straight out of their home country, others have extensive experience attending international schools.
The youngest pupils at Modern English School Cairo follow the Early Years curriculum, which places a strong focus on play, early childhood development, and social skills. Students move on to Key Stages 1 and 2, where the English National Curriculum serves as the foundation for the instruction, with modifications made to fit our unique local environment and diverse global culture.
As students advance to the secondary school years, they can choose to enroll in the American curriculum section for a 2-year Middle School program that ends with a 4-year High School Diploma program, or they can enroll in the British section for a 2-year KS3 program that starts with GCSE/IGCSE courses and ends with AS/A Levels.
Students who wish to pursue graduation through our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme section can do so after Year 10 or Grade 10. All of the pathways culminate in graduation and allow our students to enroll in universities of their choice based on their demonstrated abilities.
The goal of the MES Cairo ASA program is to enhance students' experiences of learning beyond the classroom. Pupils can experiment, practice, and become proficient in new activities. The overarching goal of the after-school programs is to allow students to engage in novel and stimulating activities that are provided by faculty and specialized coaches.
Modern English School Cairo welcomes participation from all Primary and Secondary students in one activity per term and offers over eighty clubs throughout the year. Numerous clubs are available, such as those for music, sports, creative arts, crafts, ICT, cooking, languages, debate society, international awards, model UN (Model United Nations), community service, and much more.
