National Museum of Oman
Detailing the history of the Oman Peninsula from its very inception, the National Museum is a tourist attraction in Muscat for individuals interested in the country's history and heritage. If you only have time to see one museum during your tour to Muscat, this is the one and only museum you should go to. The museum is a cutting-edge facility that launched in 2016. It is an all-encompassing museum of Omani history, culture, and physical and intangible Omani culture. The structure itself is modern with very noticeable traditional Omani characteristics - in other words, you can discern Arab architectural style even if it is extremely modern.
The National Museum of Oman is well organized, containing a collection of genuine Omani artifacts as well as custom-made replicas of castles and notable locations. The museum's size is not overpowering, and everything can be enjoyed in two hours. The museum's interior is filled with minor touches, such as a gallery made to seem like the towers of Al-Hazm Castle.
The museum's galleries are divided by theme, such as Maritime History, People's History, Oman and the World, Renaissance, and so on. The museum also provides 43 entirely digitally immersive experiences that employ audio visual displays to tell historical stories. The museum also contains a modest gift store and an expensive version of the fusion Omani restaurant Bait Al-Luban, which should not be missed.
