Oyasumi Punpun
Inio Asano's "Oyasumi Punpun" is a coming-of-age seinen manga series written and illustrated by him. From 2007 to 2013, the series was serialized in Weekly Young Sunday magazine and collected into thirteen tankbon volumes. The story follows the life of Punpun Onodera, a young boy who lives in Japan, as he grows up and faces the challenges of adolescence.
Punpun Onodera is a typical 11-year-old Japanese boy. Punpun, who is idealistic and romantic, sees himself maturing when he meets the new girl in his class, Aiko Tanaka. As a result, the quiet boy learns how difficult it is to maintain a relationship and the enormous challenges he must face as he grows from a child to an adult. Punpun realizes something else when his father attacks his mother one night: the people he admires are not as great as he believes. Punpun's shy demeanor changes to that of a determined loner as his problems worsen. This change in himself, rather than curing him of conflicting issues and emotions, only strengthens him as a person.
