Vinland Saga

Makoto Yukimura's "Vinland Saga" is a historical seinen manga series written and illustrated by him. From 2005 to 2015, the series was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, and from 2015 to 2022, it was serialized in Monthly Afternoon. As of July 2023, the series had been collected into 25 tankbon volumes. The story takes place in Denmark and England during the Viking Age and follows Thorfinn, a young Viking warrior who seeks vengeance on Askeladd, the man who murdered his father. Thorfinn becomes involved in the conflicts between Viking factions along the way and eventually discovers a new path in life.

Thorfinn grew up hearing stories about old sailors who sailed the seas and arrived in Vinland, the legendary land. He does, however, live in a time when the war between England and Denmark is getting worse by the year. Death had become routine, and the Viking mercenaries reveled in it. Aligning with either side would result in a massive shift in the balance of power, so the Vikings are content to make a name for themselves and collect the spoils that come with it. Thorfinn must exact revenge on Askeladd, the man who murdered his father, in the midst of the chaos.
