San Agustin Church: Spectacular Baroque Architecture

The San Agustin Church is a popular tourist destination in Manila. The church is the oldest in the Philippines, and despite being built in 1586, it has undergone numerous renovations, the most recent of which was in 2013. Because of its striking Baroque architecture, the church is both a national landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The church is still in use, and visitors may catch a glimpse of a traditional mass or wedding in progress if they are lucky! It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Manila.

The current structure is the third on the site and has survived seven major earthquakes as well as the Battle of Manila. It's a busy church that's in high demand for weddings and other ceremonies. The church is accessible via the newly renovated San Agustin Museum, a treasure trove of antiquities that offers tantalizing glimpses of Old Manila's fabled riches. Check out the ethereal ivory Immaculate Conception statue, which has a vaguely Chinese appearance. During Mass, the church is closed to tourists, but you may be able to sneak in.

The San Agustin Church can be found on General Luna St in Manila, Metro Manila. To get to the church, you can take a jeepney, taxi, tricycle, or pedicab. The area is also easily accessible via the Light Rail Transit System (LRT) and the Metro Rail Transit System (MRT) (MRT).
