Seventeen
Pledis Entertainment formed the South Korean boy band Seventeen. They made their debut with the EP 17 Carat on May 26, 2015. The album went on to become the longest-charting K-pop album of the year in the United States, and it was the only debut album to appear on Billboard's "10 Best K-Pop Albums of 2015" chart. Seventeen members perform as one group, and are divided into three units, each with a different area of specialization: "Hip-Hop Team", "Vocal Team", and "Performance Team". Seventeen has released three studio albums and twelve EPs since its inception.
Seventeen is a "self-producing" idol group, with members actively involved in songwriting, choreography, and other aspects of their music and performances. Various domestic and international media outlets have dubbed the group "Performance Kings", "Theater Kids of K-pop", and "K-pop Performance Powerhouse".
