Smith Express
The Smith Express is intended for metropolitan commuters who prefer city streets to rural highways. Rather than being heavily vented, the Express has an enclosed design, which is also characteristic of skateboard designs. As a result, it is a hotter helmet than other similar helmets, and hence, is more suited to autumn rides than sweltering summer rides.
The Smith Express is in no way smaller in size compared to other helmets. However, its more confined form makes this helmet look less massive and bulbous than traditional vented versions. Unfortunately, we did not think that the Smith Express is as pleasant as other finest bike helmets on our list - mostly because the cushioning is insufficient to protect the back of your head from colliding with the liner's hard foam.
This issue may be remedied by adding padding to the upper rear of the helmets, but Smith does not do so for unknown reasons. We did adjust to the fit after hours of riding; still, if you do not think you can get used to such designs, this item might not be for you.
