Specialized S-Works Prevail II
The Specialized S-Works Prevail II helmet was the most technologically advanced helmet we evaluated, with an accident alarm program. It begins with a layer of carbon and aramid fibers that adds stiffness and weight, as well as the MIPS impact deflecting system. The manufacturer then incorporated its ANGi system (an acronym for Angle and G-force indicator), which consists of a sensor affixed to the helmet's rear. If the system senses a significant fall, it will initiate a countdown to an alert program through the Specialized Ride application on a linked smartphone.
If you are not wounded anywhere (well, except your pride), you may simply dismiss the alert. Otherwise, the program will send a text message with your location to some of your emergency contacts. This feature of the Specialized S-Works Prevail II helmet may actually save your life if you are a solitary rider who often travels on rural roads. So do not underestimate it!
