Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, often known as Shevchenko University, is a university in Kyiv, Ukraine's capital. The university is widely regarded as Ukraine's most prominent university, as well as the country's largest higher education institution. KNU is one of the world's top 650 universities. There are fifteen faculties (academic departments) and five institutes in its current structure. The Kyiv Imperial University of Saint Volodymyr was created in 1834 by Russian Tsar Nikolai I, and it has changed its name several times since then. Kiev State University, along with Moscow State University and Leningrad State University, was one of the top three universities in the Soviet Union during its heyday. In several evaluations, it is regarded as Ukraine's best university. Nikolay Bunge, Mykhailo Drahomanov, Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, Nikolai Berdyaev, Mikhail Bulgakov, Ivan Schmalhausen, Theodosius Dobzhansky, Viacheslav Chornovil, Leonid Kravchuk, and many others are among the university's prominent graduates. Taras Shevchenko, who was barred from participating in educational activities for political reasons, worked as a field researcher for Kyiv University.
