The Central Asian Financial-Economical Institution (CAFEI) was established in 1931. Tashkent Financial-Economical Institution was afterwards renamed. It was renamed Tashkent State Economical University in 1962. On May 13, 1991, the university was renamed the Tashkent Financial Institute under the Tashkent State Economical University after Uzbekistan attained independence.
The Tashkent Financial Institute was founded on the initiative of Uzbekistan's first president, Islam Karimov. It has achieved rapid success in both the local and international arenas in a short period of time due to hard effort and the excellence of the university employees. TFI alumni have gone on to hold positions of leadership in ministries, financial institutions, and other public and commercial organizations.
For years after independence, creative effort, enormous economic and cultural accomplishments have altered the country, making it better and more prosperous. Reforms and innovations in the political, economic, and spiritual spheres, positive urban transformations, the emergence of new modern enterprises, educational institutions, cultural and community constructions, roads and bridges all attest to the improvement of people's well-being and the strengthening of the national economy.
