The University of Buea
The University of Buea is situated in Molyko, Buea, in Cameroon's southwest region. It was established as a university center in 1985 and became a full-fledged university in 1992, following a government decision that reorganized the country's state universities.
It is recognized as Cameroon's best institution, and it is one of two English-speaking universities in the country, along with the University of Bamenda. The University of Buea is a Cameroonian coeducational higher education institution that is officially accredited by the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur, Cameroun (Ministry of Higher Education of Cameroon).
The institution has about 13,000 students, 500 lecturers and professors, and 473 support staff. The University of Buea offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctorate degrees in several areas of study including Medicine & Health, Language & Cultural Studies, and Arts & Humanities.
Additionally, The University of Buea cooperates with other universities and international organizations to exchange employees and students to help the university with staff capacity building and research funding.
