The University of Yaoundé I

The University of Yaoundé I is a non-profit public higher education institution in the capital of Yaoundé and one of the best universities in Cameroon. The university was established in 1993 after the decision was taken to divide Cameroon's oldest university into two different institutions: the University of Yaoundé 1 and the University of Yaoundé 2.

The University of Yaoundé I was officially accredited by the Ministère de Enseignement Supérieur, Cameroun (Ministry of Higher Education, Cameroon), is a big coeducational higher education institution with a high enrolment range (10,000-14,999 students). The University of Yaoundé I provides programs and courses that lead to legal higher education degrees in both French and English in a variety of fields of study.

The academic departments of the University of Yaoundé 1 are as follows: Humanities and Social Sciences; Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences; National Advanced School of Engineering and Faculty of Sciences.
