Trump International Hotel and Tower
Trump International Hotel and Tower is a skyscraper-shaped condo hotel in downtown Chicago, Illinois. The building named after Donald Trump and was designed by architects Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Bovis Lend Lease constructed a 98-story building measuring 1,388 feet (423.2 m) with a 1,171 ft (357 m) spire and roof. It is next to a major tributary of the Chicago River and overlooks the mouth of Lake Michigan across a series of bridges that cross the river. The building became famous when Apprentice Season 1 winner Bill Rancic chose to direct the tower over the Rancho Palos Verdes Trump National Golf Course & Resort in the Los Angeles metro area. ...
Trump announced in 2001 that the skyscraper would become the tallest building in the world, but after the 9/11 attacks that year, architects stopped planning the building and underwent several design changes. In 2009, it became the 7th tallest building in the United States. It surpassed downtown John Hancock as the world's tallest residence (apartment or condominium) and held that rank for a while until the Burj Khalifa was completed.
