Tsinghua University
Tsinghua University in Beijing, which has been regarded as one of the finest in the world for both engineering and computer science degrees since 2015, is an excellent place to start.
Tsinghua University was founded in 1911 in the aftermath of the anti-colonialist Boxer Rebellion, for which the United States fined China $30 million. President Theodore Roosevelt negotiated a decrease in the value with Congress in 1909, with the remaining funds intended for university scholarships for Chinese students studying in the United States. Tsinghua University was founded as a preparation institution for students' international visits.
Academically, the institution is divided into 20 schools and 57 departments that span a wide range of areas such as physics, engineering, arts and literature, social sciences, and medicine. As part of a series of undergraduate education changes, Xinya College was founded in 2014 as the school's residential liberal arts college. Unlike other Tsinghua students, who must declare their majors upon enrolment, Xinya students can do so at the conclusion of their first year.
