University of Cambridge
Cambridge, a world-renowned university, is the second-oldest in the English-speaking world. It boasts 12,000 students and 10,000 employees, as well as a significant international presence — 1,300 students come from outside of Europe.
Engineering is the University of Cambridge's largest department, with 132 faculty, 195 contract research staff and research fellows, approximately 600 research students, and over 1000 undergraduates. Famous graduates include Frank Whittle, the creator of the jet engine, and Harry Ricardo, the founder of the Ricardo consultancy and well-known for his work in automobile engine design.
Extracurricular activities allow students to get involved in anything from the university's famed student theatrical societies, which gave birth to the likes of Monty Python, to music, politics, and hundreds of other clubs and societies. Cambridge's sports scene is also massive, with state-of-the-art facilities and over 80 sports available, with teams for amateurs and specialists alike.
