Ubatuba
Ubatuba is a municipality on the northern coast of So Paulo state, near the Rio de Janeiro state border. Ubatuba is a true paradise, with its exuberant Atlantic rain forest and more than 80 non-contiguous beaches spread along 100 kilometers of coast. Some of them may be completely deserted, especially during low season. Ubatuba will keep you entertained and bewitched with its beauty, whether you're looking for challenging mountain walks or a simple day out on a stunning beach. Ubatuba is only a three-hour drive from Sao Paulo.
Head to Praia Vermelha do Norte for big waves and floppy-haired surfers. Visit Praia Grande for a good mix of activities and crowds. It can get crowded during peak season but is well maintained and has plenty of food and drink options. Spend a day at either Praia da Fortaleza or Praia da Santa Rita for ultimate peace and seclusion. Both beaches have walking trails that lead to nearby hills.
