University of Brawijaya
On July 11, 1961, the President of the Republic of Indonesia awarded the name Universitas Brawijaya (Brawijaya University) via cable no. 258/K/61. This name is derived from the title of the Kings of Majapahit, a major Indonesian empire that existed from the 12th to the 15th centuries. UB is one of the leading universities in Indonesia, with over 60,000 students enrolled in diploma programs, bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, doctoral degrees, and medical specialist programs across 12 faculties, two faculty-level programs, one vocational program, and one postgraduate program.
UB is dedicated to increasing the relevance of research and community services in order to improve educational quality, industrial needs, and human resources.
The majority of Universitas Brawijaya students are Muslim. There is a central mosque on the Universitas Brawijaya campus named Masjid Raden Patah, as well as mush ollas in several faculties or departments. For Buddhists, there is a Buddhist Temple not far from campus, and for Christians, there is a cathedral on Bromo Street, about 10 minutes away by public taxi. There are various options for housing, including a dormitory (for male students) near the Unibraw students' cooperative, boarding houses, and rented houses. Watugong Street, Ketawang Gede, Sumbersari Street, and Gajayana Street are among the neighborhoods with available rental houses or boarding houses.
For academics, staff, and students, UB provides facilities and information technology-based services. This service is intended to support the teaching and learning activities of all UB components.
For students, Universitas Brawijaya maintains a healthcare clinic. Students can obtain healthcare treatments at a reasonable and affordable cost. In addition to healthcare clinics, Malang has various hospitals, including Syaiful Anwar General Hospital, Islamic Hospital, Lavalette Hospital, and others.
The UB campus is located in Malang, East Java, in a strategic location that is easily accessible by public transit. UB is a very fresh campus, with trees spreading in all corners and the cool air of Malang. Malang has grown fast as an educational city. This appears to be inextricably linked to East Java's historical splendor.
