UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN
The University of Ibadan is a public research university located in Ibadan, Nigeria. University College Ibadan was established in 1948 as one of the University of London's many colleges. It was founded in 1963 as an independent university and is Nigeria's earliest degree-granting institution. The University of Ibadan has contributed to Nigeria's political, industrial, economic, and cultural development through its graduate network. With a long and illustrious history, the University of Ibadan is one of Africa's most famous universities.
The University of Ibadan has 92 academic departments, including Arts, Science, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Agriculture, the Social Sciences, Education, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Technology, Law, Public Health, Dentistry, Economics and Management Sciences, Renewable Natural Resources, Environmental Design and Management, and Multidisciplinary Studies.
Among the University's notable graduates are a Nobel Laureate in Literature, prominent mathematicians, scientists, politicians, lawyers, business titans, philosophers, writers, monarchs, innumerable technocrats, holders of the Nigerian National Order of Merit, and Fellows of several learned institutions.
