Uptown Funk
The British record producer Mark Ronson's fourth studio album, Uptown Special (2015), contains the song Uptown Funk, which features American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars. On November 10, 2014, it was made available on itunes in a number of nations as the album's lead single. In a freestyle studio session where they worked on a jam Mars and his band played on tour, Ronson, Mars, Philip Lawrence, and Jeff Bhasker wrote Uptown Funk, which was also produced by the first two and Bhasker. Following the song's debut, copyright issues led to several lawsuits and changes to the songwriting credits, which led to copyright problems.
The song's sound is a fusion of Minneapolis and funk-pop, soul, boogie, and disco. It has a vibe close to funk music from the 1980s. Fashion, self-love, and "typical masculine bravado" are all addressed in the song's lyrics, which are delivered in a sing-rapping style that is full of metaphors, haughtiness, charisma, and humor. When the song was first released, critics gave it largely favorable reviews, praising the instrumentation, style, and influences of the song. Some criticized it for being unoriginal because it attempted to imitate 1980s funk music.
The song was the most successful single for Ronson and Mars to date in terms of sales, topping the charts in 19 different nations and peaking at number 10 in another 15. Uptown Funk spent seven weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart in addition to spending 14 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
