Vallée de Mai (Praslin)
The Vallée de Mai, often known as the Garden of Eden, is a protected natural park and UNESCO World Heritage site on the island of Praslin. The old palm forest in this park has remained essentially intact since prehistoric times, hence the Garden of Eden moniker.
Hiking trails of varied difficulties wind their way through the Vallée de Mai. You'll witness numerous unusual birds, animals, and native plant kinds along the way, including the famous Coco de Mer palm, which produces the world's largest nut. A visit to this virgin forest transports you back in time to prehistoric days when nature reigned supreme!
If you want to snap images but don't have a good camera, use flash to capture your pictures. It becomes light again at the summit of the Glacis Noire, and you may enjoy a spectacular 360° view from here. A modest café near the park's entrance invites you to take a break, and there are gift shops as well.
