Vienna General Hospital - Austria

Vienna General Hospital (German: Allgemeines Krankenhaus der Stadt Wien), commonly referred to as AKH, is a general hospital in Vienna, Austria. It is also the university hospital of the Medical University of Vienna. The origin began its work in 1686 when Dr. Johann Frank donated the property to build the hospital after ending the war in Vienna.


The Vienna Clinical Hospital is engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases from most areas of medicine: oncology, neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, etc. One of the most striking examples of the hospital's activities is the most complex liver, pancreas, kidney, lung, and even heart transplant operations.


In addition to clinics, institutes, and laboratories, there are restaurants, banks, and shops on the premises of the Vienna Clinical Hospital.


Currently, AKH hospital has about 9,000 people working. In which, there are about 1,600 doctors and 4,500 medical staff who are nurses and rehabilitation technicians. Annually, AKH has nearly 95,000 inpatients and 500,000 outpatient visits at 384 hospital clinics. The hospital has more than 11,000 medical students from the Medical University of Vienna.
