All of these enterprises are owned by Mrs. Ram Merchandani, the owner of the Casa Grande Hotel on the University's campus. The accusations arose after the bank refused to honor cheques for services rendered by these companies. The sums of money total more than $300,000.00 BDS. Both men have been remanded in custody in Barbados pending their trial. They'll be back on Monday, September 22nd, 2018.

Washington University of Barbados offers a 4-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program for college graduates and a 5.5-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program for high school graduates, with Pre-medical, Basic Sciences, and Clinical Rotations/Sciences. Clinical Rotations are conducted either in WUB, Barbados, or in the United States, and the Pre-Medical and Basic Sciences curriculum is taught at WUB, Barbados. Three times a year, in January, May, and September, Washington University of Barbados invites international students. To study at WUB, students must first take the MCAT. WUB students take all parts of the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination), with the ultimate goal of practicing medicine in the United States.
