Wolverhampton Wanderers Football
Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club is a professional football club based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands region of England and currently playing in the Premier League. The club was founded in 1877. The team's common nickname is "Wolves". Historically, Wolves have had major influences. The most notable of which is that they were one of the founding members of the English Football Federation, as well as having played an important role in the founding of the European Cups, which later became the UEFA Champions League.
Wolves won the FA Cup twice before World War I broke out. Wolves cemented their reputation under the leadership of legendary coach and former player Stan Cullis. After World War II, Wolves entered their golden age when they won the First Division three times and the FA Cup twice between 1949 and 1960 around the time the European Cups were being established, the British Press hailed Wolves as the "Champions of the World" after their victories over top European and world clubs such as South Africa, Racing, Spartak Moscow, and Honvéd and a number of other clubs.
