Croatia has over 1000 islands in total, around 48 of which are inhabited. But when it comes to the crunch, which Croatian islands are the most beautiful? In ... read more...

  1. Dugi Otok ranks 1st on the list of the most beautiful islands in Croatia. It is one of Croatia's lesser-known islands, yet it manages to stay hidden. It is long and spindly, and it is located off the shore of Zadar. There aren't many tourists here, so it's ideal for escaping the summer throng on the more popular islands. The primary spot to stay is in the charming town of Sali. The island's western edge is lonely and deserted. In Saharun, it boasts one of Croatia's best beaches. It's also a fantastic place to start exploring the Kornati Archipelago National Park, which is home to hundreds of deserted islets.

Best of all, Dugi Otok Island is really easily reached by ferry from Zadar to Brbinj. Once here, make sure to check out Saharun beach (which is lovely) and some of the family-run vineyards on the island, too. Also, make sure to head to the western coast of the island for its high cliffs and rugged coastlines and to the town of Sali for some delicious fresh seafood. It’s totally dramatic and such a stunner of a spot.

    Šolta

Šolta Island ranks 2nd on the list of the most beautiful islands in Croatia. It is located in the Adriatic Sea, west of the island of Bra, south of Split (separated by the Split Channel), and east of the Drvenik islands, Drvenik Mali and Drvenik Veli, in the middle Dalmatian archipelago. Vineyards, olives, fruit, fishing, and tourism are all important parts of the island's economy. While the main communities (Grohote, Gornje Selo, Srednje Selo, Donje Selo) lie inland, Maslinica, which is solely exposed to north-westerly winds, provides a decent refuge for smaller boats.

In Šolta Island, you may simply jump across here for a day's vacation and spend some time in the beautiful and rustic landscape of the Croatian islands because it's not too far away. Now, the travel will take around 35 minutes. Explore the island's vineyards and olive fields, which have been passed down through generations of island residents, as one of the greatest things to do on Solta. It's also one of the greatest Croatian islands for renting a bicycle and exploring the Solta's many little settlements.

  3. Veliki Brijun is one of the most beautiful islands in Croatia. The Brijuni National Park encompasses the whole island of Veliki Brijun, protecting one of Croatia's most beautiful islands. The island is now accessible by boat from Fazana, and the voyage takes a little over 15 minutes. This indicates that it is pleasant and simple to visit. If you want to see some of Croatia's pristine National Parks and unspoiled natural beauty, Veliki Brijun is the place to go. It's the ideal spot for a relaxing day in the countryside while seeing a completely unspoiled island.

The Faana Channel, which is just 12 meters deep, separates it from the mainland, and geological evidence reveals that until 10,000 years ago, the entire archipelago was connected to the Istria peninsula. The island is 5.72 km2 in size, making it the 41st largest Croatian island, with a 23.41 km long shoreline. The deserted island of Veliki Brijun is located in the Croatian Adriatic Sea. It is the largest island in the Brijuni Islands (also known as the Brioni or the Brionian Islands) archipelago, which is located off the west coast of Istria in the northern Adriatic.

  4. Sveti Klement Island ranks 4th on the list of the most beautiful islands in Croatia. Sveti Klement, part of the Paklinski Islands series, is located close south of Hvar. This makes it one of the top islands in Croatia from which to begin your island-hopping adventure. Summer is now the ideal time to visit Sveti Klement. This is when boat charters to this beautiful tiny island may be booked. You're going to have a great time.

The island's coastline region is barren and rocky, whereas the interior is covered with maquis bushes. Palmiana, Momia Polje, and Vlaka are three non-permanent villages on the island. Palmiana also has an ACI Club marina, which is open from March to October. Sveti Klement Island is a renowned tourist destination. Sveti Klement includes a marina as well as a few restaurants and a distinctive lounge bar. It is also a popular destination wedding location, with many couples from all over the world choosing to marry there.

  5. Galenjak Island is located in the Adriatic's Paman Canal, between the Paman Islands and the town of Turanj on the mainland of Croatia. It's one of the few naturally occurring heart-shaped things on the planet. The island has a surface area of 0.132 km2 and a 1.55-kilometer-long beach. There are two peaks on the island, the tallest of which is 36 meters above sea level.

Galenjak is privately held by the Jureko family, who live in Mrljane on the island of Pasman, and it is home to a colony of tiny rabbits and wild pigeons. Three known Illyrian burial mounds and the ruins of an old edifice have been discovered on this island. In February 2009, the island was shown on Google Earth, bringing it to the attention of the whole globe. Recent activity on the island has left two big scars in its core, one across the island from a pier on the north to a pier on the south, and the other to the west, where olive and fig trees are planted. Arguably one of the most famous and best islands in Croatia, Galesnjak has become known as the lover’s island; for obvious reasons. Just look at its shape! Although privately owned and perched in the Pasman Canal (in the Adriatic Sea) there are a few boats that offer charters to the island in summer.

    Brac

The island of Brač is most famous for Zlatni Rat beach, which graces postcards across Croatia. It has a beautiful forested interior, the highest peak in the islands (Vidova Fora), and is also famous for its marble which is used extensively in Split’s ancient buildings. Not far from Split, Brač is one of the most popular islands for vacationing families thanks to its beaches – although it’s noticeably quieter and sleepier than nearby Hvar, which is just 20 minutes away. Many Croatians and visitors pop over here to enjoy its crystal-clear waters. Honestly, they’re so amazing for a dip in the heat of summer. Once here, make sure to visit the world-famous beach of Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) and explore Supetar Bay, too. They’re both stunning, though the former does attract big crowds.

The economy of Brač Island is based mostly on tourism, but fishing and agriculture (especially wine and olives) are very important too, as is its precious white stone which was used in building Diocletian's Palace in Split and the Canadian National Vimy Memorial. Very widespread is also the claim that it was used in the White House in Washington, D.C.Historically, Brač was famous for goats; even Pliny comments that from the island of Brattia comes excellent cheese, wine, and olive oil.

Rab is a Croatian island off the northern Croatian coast in the Adriatic Sea, located in the northern Dalmatia area. The island is 22 kilometers long, 93.6 kilometers wide, and has a population of 9,328 people. The namesake town of Rab is the principal community on the island, however, the nearby village of Palit has the largest population. Kamenjak, at 408 meters, is the highest mountain. The island's northeastern half is primarily karst, while the southwestern part is home to one of the Mediterranean's remaining oak woods. The skyline is dominated by the four campaniles. It's lush and sunny, with a few lovely villages, protected waterways, and some of Croatia's greatest sandy beaches, so coming's no surprise that the Italians love it here. It was known to the Romans as felix arba, or "the pleasant island."

Rab Island is rich in cultural heritage and cultural-historical monuments that make it a popular vacation destination. Rab is also known as a pioneer of naturism after the visit of King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson.
