Avocat Waterfall has located just a short distance off the Arima-Blanchisseuse Road in the village of Avocat. Within this village lies one of the most mesmerizing eco destinations in Trinidad – Avocat Waterfall otherwise known as ‘Gran Fond Falls’ meaning “the river that comes from the sky” as named by the Amerindians. Landscaped by a wall of glistening bronze rocks and lush vegetation, one can enjoy a spray bath behind the curtain of falling water that thunders down into a Jacuzzi-type pool below. The surrounding rocks also make a great springboard for jumping into the deep blue-green water below. As the pool flows downstream into the Marianne River, the calmness of the river mouth provides a relaxing swim and an ideal kayaking location. As visitors leave the Falls walking along the riverbank that leads out of the village, the nature trail on the opposite side takes them further into the Marianne Valley. The well-trodden path through the lively canopy is lined with Green and White lilies that create an entrancing experience of nature's woodland.

At Avocat Waterfall, although it's one of those hikes where visitors must get their feet wet, they'll enjoy the added treat that's located at the 50-foot cascading waterfall's base - a clear pool for those who wish to take a refreshing dip. The waterfall is actually on a tributary of the Marianne River that flows in a westerly direction and joins the main river shortly after the waterfall. Avocat Waterfall is also known as the Marianne Waterfall as its water is received from the Marianne River. The cascading water gushes into a large emerald-green pool for bathing. There are boulders strewn around the pool for your relaxing pleasure. At times you can see groups rappelling the large rock walls behind the falls. At 175 feet (54 meters), Argyle Waterfall - Tobago’s highest waterfall attracts locals and foreigners to its cascade of cool, crisp water that flows down from three dramatic levels. Located on the northeast side of Tobago, the falls are just outside Roxborough, on Scarborough road. Encircled by lush green foliage, the waterfall is accessed after a 15-20 minute trek along a clearly marked trail. Along the way, visitors are greeted by butterflies and a variety of birds. With 3 levels, the thunderous sound of the waterfall is heard long before visitors see it. The height of the first cascade hides the real splendor of Argyle’s upper levels. If visitors are adventurous they can hike up a bushy path on the right-hand side to the second level, where they are greeted by a thick mist. Finally, going further the third pool, though the smallest is the deepest and the best for swimming, diving, jumping, or swinging into the water from available vines.

The Argyle Waterfall is the tallest on this small island, and they tumble and cascade down a rocky course that stretches some 175 feet. The Argyle Waterfall can be found near the village of Roxborough on the island’s east coast, and in addition to paying a fee to access them, visitors also have to pay to hire a guide at the entrance of Windward Road. The fees are light, and it helps to have a guide to tell visitors all about the ecology of the region as they make the hike to the falls. The Rio Seco Waterfall is within the Matura National Park and thus is a protected area. The fall is located in Salybia, Matura and its entrance is obliquely opposite Salybia Beach. Rio Seco Waterfall is among Trinidad's most stunning waterfalls. While, by far not the tallest, Rio Seco is most loved for its wide deep basin filled with emerald green water, which is ideal for swimming and can even accommodate dinghies and kayaks. The waterfall's face, which slopes backward, makes for an easy climb to its top, and its deep plunge pool encourages visitors to jump and dive in. Another appealing aspect of Rio Seco is that the hike to the waterfall is a relatively easy one, which takes visitors along a wide generally clear path that is marked better than most other waterfall trails. The Rio Seco Waterfall is a small cascading fall that plunges into a beautiful turquoise pool framed by towering forest trees. Once descending down into the glade, the falls are approached by swimming across the fairly deep pool and climbing up a rope that was kindly placed there by a previous explorer. Hikers can then jump off the falls into the pool below. As the walk may take some time, pack some sandwiches and drinks to keep visitors hydrated and refreshed, and remember to tidy up after and take back any garbage they might find. The river runs along the trail so at specific points one can get sneak peeks of it through the flora. The secluded Paria Waterfall can be accessed by hiking trail through Blanchisseuse or Matelot, or by boat. The journey provides breathtaking views of stacks, arches, caves, and other natural formations along the coastline. The option starts at the Blanchisseuse Spring Bridge, through the North Coast Forest, over uphill climbs and downhill slides, across Paria Beach, and ends with a short trek to the Paria Waterfall after hiking for approximately two and a half hours. Although some hikers have regarded the hiking level as strenuous, it is doable even for inexperienced hikers and first-timers. During this coastal hike, travelers will come across a majestic 50ft peninsula known as Turtle Rock. Its name is derived from the green and marine turtles that frequent the surrounding Caribbean Sea. The Paria Waterfall is a refreshingly short walk 15 minutes inland from scenic Paria Beach. Following the river located at the eastern end of the beach, one comes across one of the most remarkable hidden waterfalls. Clean, clear, pristine waters of the Northern Range tumbles over 10ft of rocks into a refreshing and blissful plunge pool, to rejuvenate the body and mind for the hike out. The Paria Waterfall is the ending point for the Paria River, which works its way down the rainforest-covered slopes of the Northern Range. After about an hour or two of hiking, depending on the visitor's speed, they will reach the lovely beach at Paria Bay. It's just a short walk from the beach to the waterfalls. At the base of the waterfalls at Paria is a large, deep, and clear pool that is ideal for swimming. This is an indispensable name in the list of the most beautiful waterfalls in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Turure Waterfalls located in Cumaca is unlike any other waterfall found in Trinidad. The waterfall is made up of a number of tall limestone outcrops that rise up out of the water and span the width of the Turure river, like a series of large steps. Each step is in height but the largest is approximately 50 feet wide and 25 feet high which resembles a curtain. Each step has a natural jacuzzi-like pool at its base great for wading and swimming. The river has ‘jacuzzi-like’ pools and beautiful waterfalls, forming natural giant ‘steps’ leading upstream to the falls. The guide says the best time to visit is during the rainy season when the pools are full. The hike itself takes approximately 30 minutes, and there are also additional cascades and even a hidden cave, further upstream. While exploring, stop off for lunch with some cheese paste sandwiches and a cold Solo Ginger Ale to keep energy levels up. As always, the beauty of forests, birds, and other wildlife can also be seen. Thanks to its unique and abundant nature, the Turure Waterfalls deserve to be the most beautiful waterfalls in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Turure Waterfalls is an ‘ecological gem’, the rock upon which the river flows is composed of limestone, while placed along its bed are layers of sedimentary rock. The Turure Waterfalls are often featured on hiking tours, partly because there are three of them that follow one after the next. Each of the three waterfalls at Turure has its own base pool, and it’s delightful to watch the clear water cascade down the forest’s limestone cliffs while travelers swim. They can also find some waterfalls closer to Maracas Bay if they are basing themselves in Port of Spain and are limited by time. Along the 60-minute trek, one can indulge in the lush green flora and refreshing streams that have to be crossed.
