Acadia National Park
The trip from Portland to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park takes roughly three hours, but there's much to see along the way. Highway 1 is the most gorgeous and fun road. This route is around 40 minutes longer, but it is definitely worth the extra journey. Visit the city's five lighthouses, the waterfront, and the Old Port area while in Portland. Giant's Stairs, Harpswell, Popham Beach State Park, Muscongus Bay, and Searsport's Nature Preserves are some of the greatest stops on the journey to Bar Harbor. In the fall, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are stunning destinations. The greatest time to visit Acadia National Park to view the changing foliage is around mid-October. Rose Eden Lobster, the Bar Harbor Shore Path, and the Gaynes are all must-sees in Bar Harbor. Visit Cadillac Mountain, Jordan Pond, the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, and Sand Beach when visiting Acadia National Park.
