Anne with an E
Anne with an E (formerly named Anne in Canada) is a Canadian television series partly based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic children's novel Anne of Green Gables, first in 1908. The series aired on CBC on March 19, 2017, and on Netflix globally on May 12. The adventures of a little orphaned girl in the late nineteenth century. In this new adaptation of L.M. Montgomery's famous novels, follow Anne as she learns to navigate her new life on Prince Edward Island.
In both 2017 and 2018, Anne with an E received positive reviews and won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Dramatic Series. Orphaning, child abandonment, psychological trauma, and social issues such as conformity pressure, gender inequity, racism, religion, homosexuality, bullying, and freedom of expression are all addressed in the series.
