Anything At All

Roosevelt Island was never a place where people went to eat or drink, not even the most devoted New Yorkers. But when the Graduate Hotel debuted this summer, it had a noteworthy restaurant run by LA-based hoteliers Marc Rose and Med Abrous of the Call Mom group (they also established LA restaurants Winsome and Genghis Cohen). The restaurant was headed by chef Megan Brown. A burger is enhanced with thick-cut pepper bacon and pickled green tomatoes, while duck is used in place of chicken for the wings. The menu offers small variations of foods you might expect to find at a hotel restaurant.

The restaurant has 140 seats total, including outside tables, and an 18-seat wraparound bar serves as its focal point. Additionally, there are vintage-inspired rugs, lighting fixtures from the 1950s and 1960s, lush plants from Verru Design and WYLD, and of course, views. There is no escaping the fact that you are in New York, says Rose of the vantage point indicated by the Queensboro Bridge. "You have this perspective of the city that most people haven't even seen," she says. Another upcoming establishment is the Panorama Room, a 168-seat rooftop bar and lounge that will have unhindered city views and be built by Parts and Labor Design, winner of the James Beard Award.
