Art + Practice
In Leimert Park, Art + Practice was founded in 2014 as an art and social service organization. The foundation was founded by Mark Bradford, along with collector Eileen Harris Norton and social activist Allan DeCastro, who spent time studying before deciding how they would go to the predominantly Black neighborhood.
Their free arts programs and museum-curated exhibitions are dedicated to inspiring and meeting the needs of transition-aged foster youngsters in the area and are made possible by cooperating with institutions across the country. Every piece on show is in the hopes of reactivating the artist's community in South L.A., which was formerly home to the legendary Brockman Gallery and a hotbed of inspiration during the Black Arts Movement's heyday.
