Beaufort Castle
The 11th-century ruin of Beaufort Castle includes a nearby Renaissance château as well as the remains of a medieval fortification. A Neo-Gothic church and the nearly perfectly proportioned 12th-century castle of Beaufort, which is located on a plateau in the Mullerthal region, are the town's two most famous landmarks. It's still a lot of fun to explore Beaufort Castle (Buerg Beaufort), even though it's mostly in ruins now.
It took between 1050 and 1650 to construct Beaufort Castle. The massive ruins were revealed to the public in 1932 after extensive renovations, and they are now classified as a historical landmark. The Renaissance castle, which was constructed in the 17th century, is located just around the corner. The interiors are amazing, bringing the romance of the past to life. Only a guided tour is permitted within the castle, and it concludes with a chance to sample the world-famous Casséro liqueur.
Bring your walking shoes with you, please. There are several routes that travel through the forested hills to wonderful views of the surroundings, through amazing rock formations, and through the gorges of the Hallerbach and the Saueracht towards Grundhof and Dillingen in the Sûre valley. From Easter until the first of November, the medieval castle's ruins are accessible to tourists every day from 9 am to 6 pm.
