Echternach and its Benedictine Abbey

On the bank of the River Sûre, which serves as the border with Germany's neighbor, is the lovely town of Echternach. Nearby nature parks include Mllerdall and Germano-Luxembourg, and the area's woodlands are crisscrossed with hundreds of walks that lead to breathtaking rock formations, waterfalls, a lake, and a number of wonderful overlooks.

Its centuries-old dancing parade, which is held on Whit Tuesday and draws tourists from all over the world, is the town's most well-known feature. Echternach has managed to preserve its medieval aspect thanks to its old aristocratic homes, winding streets, and historic ramparts.

The Echternach Abbey from the seventh century is a must-see. The excellent museum at this old Benedictine monastery is well-known, and it is noteworthy for having four long wings that are arranged around a big square courtyard. The crypt of St. Willibrord, the abbey's founder, is located in the basilica, which is regarded as the most significant religious structure in the nation. The basilica's vaults are decorated with frescoes from the 10th century.

The late May through late June Echternach International Music Festival is also well-known. The town also provides excellent cuisine at its various restaurants, as well as a wide selection of prestigious hotels, boutique stores, and galleries.
