William Square (Place Guillaume II)

The Place Guillaume II, popularly known as the "Knuedler," is a sizable plaza in the heart of Luxembourg City. The Franciscan monks' frock knots, whose convent was nearby, are where the name of the place comes from. William Square (Place Guillaume II) in Luxembourg is one of the biggest open areas in the city. It was was the location of a Franciscan convent and is now a pedestrian area. The statue of William II, King of Holland and Grand Duke of Luxembourg, riding a horse, is in the center.

In addition, the magnificent Town Hall and the well-known Trémont's lions are located in William Square. The city's well-known weekly market, known for its flowers and plants as well as local produce, is also held here.

The House of Raville, built in the sixteenth century, is nearby and has a lovely façade, a balcony that has been tastefully repaired, and a spiral staircase. Other famous sites include the old cavalry-barracks of Vauban and the Spanish Turret, which offers spectacular views of the Pfaffenthal district. It is known as the "Three Acorns" because each of its three towers is decorated with an acorn, and Fort Thüngen rules it. Also, don't rush through this gorgeous location; instead, take your time. It's a delightful spot to stop for a meal or beverage at any one of the many fine cafés and restaurants located here.
