Chez Leon, Brussels, Belgium
Léon Vanlancker chose to open a 5-table restaurant called "A la Ville d'Anvers" in 1867, at a short distance from the Grand Place. He opened his "Friture Léon" just a few meters away, at 18 rue des Bouchers, in 1893.
This famous restaurant, located in the middle of the dynamic and ancient city, serves the best mussels in Brussels. You will be served a heaping kilogram of mouth-watering fresh mussels steaming in a stew while seated at the basic and friendly tables. They're served with chips and a great Belgian beer to wash it all down. Poulette-style mussels with white wine, cream, and mushrooms are a must-try.
