La Caleta Bar And Restaurant, Madrid, Spain
For a country so far from the shore, Madrid boasts a surprisingly fantastic seafood culture. There are numerous excellent seafood restaurants in the area, but La Caleta is one of the best. This restaurant will make you feel as if you've been transported to Andalusia's seaside area, where you're eating delicious fried fish by the sea.
At La Caletta on the Sardinian island of Sant'Antioco, dining with your feet practically in the sand and the soft swish of waves as background music makes for a beautiful evening. The menu of fish direct from the emerald-green seas off the little village of Calasetta, in the north of the island, would be outstanding even without this setting. If you still have space for dessert, try a classic seadas, which is a deep-fried turnover filled with fresh soured pecorino and drenched in honey and lemon.
