Commonwealth Bank
Commonwealth Bank is an Australian multinational bank with businesses spanning the United States, New Zealand, Asia, and the United Kingdom.
The former headquarters of Commonwealth Bank was the Commonwealth Commercial Bank Building on the corner of Pitt Street. Refurbished in 2012 for commercial and retail use, the headquarters was moved to Tower 1, 201 Sussex Street in Darling Harbour, to the west of Sydney's city center.
Former constituent parts of the Commonwealth Bank include the Commonwealth Commercial Bank of Australia, the Commonwealth Development Bank, and the Commonwealth Savings Bank of Australia. Founded in 1911 by the Australian Government and fully privatized in 1996. During the 1970s, the bank diversified its business into areas such as insurance and travel. Commonwealth Bank is today one of Australia's four largest banks, along with National Australia Bank (NAB), Westpac, and ANZ. On 12 September 1991, the bank was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Commonwealth Bank offers a wide range of financial services including retail banking, institutional businesses, fund management, insurance, investment, superannuation, and brokerage services.
