    Fortescue

    Fortescue Metals Group Limited, commonly known simply as Fortescue, is one of Australia's largest iron ore companies. In 2017, the company is considered the fourth largest producer of iron ore in the world holding more than 87,000 square kilometers in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.


    The company owns two main mining operations located in the Pilbara region, Chichester Hub and Solomon Hub. The 20 million tonnes per year Firetail mine in Solomon was formally inaugurated by Fortescue in May 2013. Besides, the following project in the central Solomon Islands, the Queens Valley mine, has been cleared for development in 2019 at an estimated cost of AU$ 417 million. The mine, which is 15 kilometers west of the Kings Valley mine, is scheduled to begin operations in 2022 and will have a huge mining capacity.
