Westpac Banking
The Westpac Banking Group, sometimes known as Westpac, is a global Australian banking and financial services firm with its headquarters in Sydney, New South Wales. It is also considered one of Australia's earliest and oldest banking organizations of the country's four main banks. Its name is derived from the two words "West" and "Pacific".
Westpac Banking was founded very early in 1817 as the Bank of New South Wales. Then, in 1981, it acquired the Commercial Bank of Australia and was renamed Westpac Banking Corporation in 1982.
Consumer Banking, Commercial, and Business Banking, BT Financial Group, Westpac Institutional Bank, and Westpac New Zealand are the five primary divisions that make up Westpac's organizational structure. More than 13 million clients are served by these five divisions. Specifically, Consumer Bank is in charge of marketing to and offering services to 9 million Australian consumer clients, supporting them with their everyday banking requirements. While Corporate Bank is in charge of operations and financing for property and equipment under the names Westpac, St. George Bank, BankSA, and Bank of Melbourne. It is also in charge of sales and services to Australian SME, commercial, and agriculture clients.
According to statistics, Westpac has 14 million customers worldwide with about 40,000 employees as of 2021.
