Could reduce symptoms of eczema
Black seed oil may help with the symptoms of eczema, a skin disorder marked by dry, itchy skin, according to much research. Black seed oil, when used topically twice daily for four weeks, was shown to be just as good in enhancing the quality of life and lessening the severity of hand eczema as betamethasone cream, a corticosteroid.
Research on animals revealed that giving mice thymoquinone, a substance present in black seed oil, orally and topically reduced inflammation and enhanced their eczema symptoms. Additionally, black seed oil helps speed up the healing of wounds and guard against dangerous microorganisms. This could aid in preventing skin infections brought on by eczema. Compounds in black seed oil have also been analyzed for their antifungal properties. In an effort to offer a solution to the growing antifungal resistant problem people have with yeasts and molds, a recent study was conducted with the purpose of determining if Nigella sativa seed oil could help.
