Hanyang University
Hanyang University is a South Korean private research university. The main campus is in Seoul, with a satellite campus in Ansan called the Education Research Industry Cluster (ERICA Campus). Hanyang is derived from the former name of Seoul, which was used during the Joseon Dynasty. The university began as an engineering school in 1939. Hanyang University was the first college in the country to offer engineering and architecture programs, and it is consistently ranked among the top STEM universities in the country.
Hanyang University has consistently been ranked as the nation's top engineering school. Hanyang University was ranked first in the country in the 2016 Engineering School Assessment. Hanyang University was ranked first in the "2016 Engineering School Assessment" conducted jointly by the Korea Economic Daily and Global Research, with a total score of 299 points. In an evaluation of the nation's 50 engineering schools, Hanyang University received the highest score in terms of industry-university cooperation, technology commercialization, start-up, and job search support, as well as education and research quality. Sungkyunkwan University, KAIST, POSTECH, and Seoul National University were the runners-up.
Presently, HYU offers graduate and undergraduate programs in diverse study fields. Its engineering programs rank the highest in Korea in many university evaluations. Hanyang University has several research accomplishments in the STEM field and collaborates with government institutes in various endeavors. HYU has more than 700 university partners globally. It admits 3000 international students and assists Korean students who want to be a part of an exchange program.
